Bradlee's, New London, CT
NEW LONDON, CONN
CLOSED FEBRUARY 1998
Being a resident of southeastern Connecticut, it’s almost
a cardinal sin not to address the legacy that was Bradlee’s department stores.
The New London-based department store chain earned its name from Windsor Locks,
Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport, where planning meetings for the new
company were often held. Bradlee’s opened their doors in 1958 at 258 South
Frontage Road in New London, CT, and soon started spreading to other areas in
the northeast United States.
In this article, I’m going to focus just on their first, New London locations (that’s right there were two!) at 258 South Frontage Road and 351 North Frontage Road.
